Academy Arts was founded in 2007 by Principal Nina Jones & business partner Caroline Airs (who has since left.)

Nina, who has worked in the industry for the past 20 years wanted to create a school that gives young students a true representation of the industry they may be entering should they wish to pursue performing as a career.

The school was opened as a THEATRE SCHOOL on the back of the success of 'High School Musical' which Academy Arts produced twice to full houses at both the Millfield Theatre and Barking Broadway.

When the school first opened the admittance age was 10 years old. Since then the age for the theatre school has dropped to age 7 and we now have Academy Kids classes for ages 3-7yrs as a pre-cursor to the theatre school.

The school is a massive family with the students socialising outside of Academy Arts hours and with various community activities for the whole school and their families to be involved in. We run Christmas parties, theatre trips, picnics and other social events alongside the fetes, competitions and productions the students perform in throughout the year.

Whether you join the school with the intention of pursuing the Arts as a career or just want to be part of a dynamic group of young performers to have fun and make friends, Academy Arts has something for everyone.

The school has a 110% work ethic and prides itself on the standard of it's students ability. Classes are fun, focused and driven, allowing our members to improve quickly in confidence and technique.

Academy Arts graduates are currently working professionally having trained at: Millenium, Bodyworks, AMTA, East 15, Arts Educational Schools, Mountview, Guildford, Italia Conti, Brit School, Lipa, CPA...

The Academy was founded in 2007 with the goal of bringing the most talented of our local youth together to put on full scale productions whilst nurturing the students developing performance technique. At the Academy, we believe firmly that to work professionally you need your technical training and therefore students joining us are encouraged to continue their training with their respective dance/drama schools.

Teachers at the Academy Arts are trained and working professional Actors, Singers, Dancers, Directors or MD's & are all DBS checked.

Academy Arts Principal Nina has 20 years of teaching experience as well as being a seasoned West End performer
